  • Educate users on the quality, safety features and effective uses of preventive maintenance practices.

  • Define and develop quality specifications for preventive maintenance treatments.

  • Promote preventive maintenance concepts and products in the State of Michigan.

  • Work to insure the preventive maintenance programs and funding are continuous in the State of Michigan.

  • To be the recognized authority that represents preventive maintenance in the State of Michigan.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE is the planned treatment of existing highways and roads that protects the pavement, decreases the rate of deterioration and adds 5 to 10 years to the service life of the pavement. Compared to rehabilitating or reconstruction of a road, preventive maintenance of roads that are in fair to good condition has proven through studies to be very cost effective.
